With the deluge of talk shows flooding the airwaves, why will 8 out of 10 first run productions never see a second season? How do we put our finger on the “it factor” that ensures success and stands the test of time? A recognized name doesn’t guarantee it, as evidenced by Wayne Brady, Sharon Osborne, Jane Pauley and Meghan Mullally having received cancellation notices. Even an unknown name, Greg somebody quickly came and went on the daytime line up of new programming.
Network executives and producers alike realize there is a need to produce something fresh and new! We are all yearning for something different!
When you meet Prissi’ Cardea, petite, genuine and beautiful on the inside and out; you immediately sense her spirit is the key. You intuit something special but it’s difficult to put into words. She makes you feel very comfortable from the onset and brings out the very best in a person. She is “the REAL deal” and whether you are a celebrity or not, Prissi’ makes you feel as though you are the most important person in the room!
“Prissi’ is a woman who commands respect,” studio executive from Paramount Pictures explains. “She is very down to earth and grounded in her life.” She loves life, family and possesses genuine faith.
At a recent NATPE, hosted at the Mandalay Bay, studio executives, producers, writers and other aspiring actors were all inexplicably drawn to Prissi’, asking about her new talk show REAL, scheduled to air during the 2009 sweeps. Variety Magazine and The Hollywood Reporter offered to assist her in creating the “buzz” for her new show. Carol Black, (Previous CEO Lifetime Network for Women) feels Prissi’ is destined for success with her new talk show.
When you mention her new project, her face brightens up. “We will be offering so much more than the usual cookie cutter format the daytime line up consists of! While a few of the talk shows are excellent, we all are sensing the public is yearning for something fresh and new. I’m a singer with a lot of energy, which immediately sets me apart from the others. We have a live band so you know that you will be entertained from the onset!
Prissi’ sang the female lead in the Leber Krebs Equity Broadway Production
of Jesus Christ Superstar. She performed along with Celine Dion and Barry Manilow for the 2006 Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon. She also recorded at Electric Lady Recording Studios, one of the premiere recording facilities in the country. She has delighted audiences in Russia, Brazil, London, Paris and Israel. Her life was showcased on PM Magazine alongside Carly Simon.
“My live concert was aired on the Family Channel while I was preparing to go to Russia. It was definitely a defining moment in my life. To be permitted to sing The King of Glory on a stage where men were once trained in Marxism was a moment I will never forget,” she recalls. Here’s how she describes her newest project.
“REAL is a brand, so we will be offering our new clothing line which is unbelievably fantastic. You will love it! It is trendy, classic and very show stopping! I am constantly stopped when I go out and asked where I got my clothing. It is so fun to say, “It is REAL.” You can imagine how much fun I have with that! We will also help you learn some great decorating tips and cook in our own REAL kitchen. Gourmet cooking for REAL people.”
“We will showcase new artists as well as your favorite bands and music stars. We will highlight some of your favorite political figures and discuss the issues that concern you and your family.”
“I think it is a gift to put people at ease, as well as bring out of them the energy it takes to promote a new film or television project properly. We have the makings of a great new talk show. It is not so much how dynamic the celebrity may or may not be, but the level of chemistry and the electricity that occurs when they are paired with the host conducting the interview. That is what set the greats like Johnny Carson and Barbara Walters apart from the others. Of course, it is the art of listening and putting people at ease, but let’s not forget to laugh and have fun. Yes, it is the spirit! We all want something REAL!”
